When it's Hard to Take the Next Step ...

God Provides You with the Strength needed for each day

I was at the car dealership this Monday. My hubby’s business car lease expired, we bought the car and had to transfer the ownership to the business name. Victor the dealer, we know him for years, was showing me the new cars and conversation moved from one to other. We been joking about the seats and that the two seats in the last row are smaller. Anyways, as our conversation moved he mentioned that it would be nice for two girls after the tree boys. These are the moments when my heart beat rises and my stomach goes into pain. My baby daughter, she’s never forgotten. So quietly I told Victor that actually, God gave us a little girl, but choose to take her awayfartoo early.

For a short moment he opened up and shared his life’s struggle. His third son was born with a lung disease and the doctors announced his son death when he was born, YET he survived. His son spent his first year in the hospital, when they couldn’t take it anymore. They told God, Lord you either take him or heal him. That night they took him off from life support and he was able to breathe on his own. By the medical assumptions he supposed to be death, he is four and alive. Yes, he needs daily massage treatments, and he is on pills, but he is a normal little boy.

Overwhelming circumstances God helps

Then Victor looked at me and said: I guess God gives us only as much we can handle. I could off never handle to lose my kids; God knew that you (as me) will be able to handle it.

And in that moment God talked and I just shared it forward.

I don’t think that’s true, sometimes we go through circumstances what we can’t handle on our own, but when we are in those overwhelming situations, God will give you the strength needed to face each day, sometimes only enough strength to face one step at the time, one hour at the time, and one day at the time. It’s not about our capability, but His availability, not my strength, but His strength.

I really don’t know what you are facing in your life right now. Maybe your life is perfect. Maybe everything is just the way you want it, but sooner or later we all go through some overwhelming circumstances what we can’t carry on our own. In those moments, remember … God will give you everything you need, to face each and every day.

I walked out of the dealership and I knew – the saying that God will never give you more then you can handle is a lie. Then we wouldn’t know what he can handle. When we are faced with situations we can’t handle, we get to know God in ways we will never know him while we are on our own.

The truth is … Job wasn’t ready to handle all his children’s death, his health and wealth diminished. Jesus wasn’t ready to face the death ahead of him, he was begging God: “Father is possible, please let this cup pass”, and certainly I wasn’t ready to see my little girl the first time without her smile on her face, I wasn’t ready to plan a funeral insted of a baby shower (and to be totally honest, still up to this day, I have no idea how we planned her funeral), my boys weren’t ready to say hi and bye at the same time to their little sister they prayed for and waited eagerly. No, we weren’t able to carry the pain, but God … in his mercy, somehow gave us the strength needed to face each and every day. It was His strength, His protection over our mind, His overwhelming peace, His mercy, His hope to hope again … It was God, and only God.

And now, I just don’t think it was God who decided to just play with us. Remember, the enemy is going against you in every possible way. God gives life; satan does everything to take life. And when God allows you to go through really hard circumstances (and please remember, that nothing, absolutely nothing can happen to you without God’s knowledge), he will give you His strength for each day.

In life you will face circumstances what you will not be able to handle own your own. Remember you don’t have to do it on your own. Ask God’s help and he will be with you and God will carry you thorugh when you can't take the next step anymore.

Well you might say, well others go through hard times to and they can move ahead without God too. I second guess that … Talked with parents who lost their kids, and decades later they are still depressed and bitter. To be honest, I don’t want to go through life on my own.

When life seems unbearable, don’t try to figure it out own your own, don’t lean on your own understanding, your own knowledge and your own strength … ask God to help you, because he promised that you will never be alone. He promised that when you call he will answer. And those are the moments when you will know God’s power, peace, strength, wisdom, presence in ways you can never experience them while you can lean on your own capabilities. You will get to know Jesus, when you reach the end of your capabilities and ask him to take over.

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. – Philippians 4:13

With God we can face tomorrow, with God we will go through the valley of death, with God we can stand in fiery furnace, lions dens, because when he shows up, it’s not us anymore but it’s all about him, and he is able to accomplish more then we could ever imagine or dare.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. – Romans 8:28

Your circumstances might be overwhelming to you, but they are not for God. We can ask God to change our circumstances, just as Jesus did, and as I did, prayed and believed to the last second for a miracle, yet it didn’t happened. While sometimes God might not change your circumstances, he will change the outcome. You might have to go through, but you are not going through alone, and he will get you through those hard times. And when you come out you will be able to declare that God causes EVERYTHING to work together for your good and God’s glory.

If you are facing anything in your life right now, what seems overwhelming to you I would like to pray for you and your situation. Please submit your prayer request and we will pray for you.
