Mothers...

Mothers…

They give or take life. They love or hate. They sacrifice everything or nothing. They either teach you to pray or to swear. They are selfless or selfish. They deify or deny their kids. Mothers…Some are great, some are bad and between there are the ones who try hard to balance a life to raise their kids. Mothers, God trusted them with a gift. The gift of life. The most valuable gift we can ever accept (beside our salvation), are our children.

Why would God trust women to become mothers? Why would God trust us with such a gift? Why God does think that we can do it?

God knows that we can’t and he doesn’t even expect us to do raise our kids on our own. God trusted us with innocent souls so that partnering with him, leaning on his guidance and wisdom we will be his extended hands and feet.

Mothers can show a child the pathway to God. Mothers can teach a child to talk with God. Mothers can show a child the love of God. Mothers can express and live out their trust in God. Mothers can live a life which infuses a child with faith in God.

Mothers…we all have one.  We can’t choose them and have no words to say who our mothers will be.  Whether they are good or bad we have to make a choice to respect them.

Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the LORD your God is giving you. ~ Exodus 20:12

But you might say that your mom doesn't deserve to be respected. She gave up on you, she denied you, she hurt you and that might be a painful truth. Unfortunately, some mothers are not good mothers.

Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has born? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! Says the Lord. ~ Isaiah 49: 15

Yes, it’s hard to imagine that a mother would give up on her child, but some do. If you had or have a mom just like that I want you to remember, that God NEVER gives up on you, never forgets you. If you grew up with a mother like that, mother’s day could be a painful event. I would love to talk with you, because God can heal your broken heart and help you to respect your mom even if she doesn’t deserve it.
